Tunnel closure will affect rail journeys

posted 18 Feb 2019, 07:32 by webmaster stgermansparishcouncil   [ updated 18 Feb 2019, 07:32 ]

A very quick reminder that next Monday, 18 February, Whiteball and Marley Tunnels in Devon will start undergoing important maintenance upgrades.  This will mean fewer trains to London on the West of England line.

Journey times will also be extended by up to an hour with diversions in place between Castle Cary and Exeter St Davids. Rail replacement transport will also run between Taunton and Exeter St Davids.

Full details are on www.gwr.com/travel-updates/planned-engineering/swupgrade  including a journey check feature for checking specific journeys.

The work will be ongoing for three weeks, and the revised timetable will therefore be in place until Friday 8 March.

We have alerted customers through social and traditional media, posters and announcements at stations and on trains, and through station events.  Anything you can do to pass on the information would also be very helpful.

I will update you again on the progress of the work as it nears completion and do let me know if you need more information on this, or any other GWR matter.

Best wishes

Mark
